Unlike basic theme functionalities that only change your "Buy Now" button text, Early Bird provides a complete system for managing partial payments, deferred payment collection, and pre-order customer communications. All without requiring technical set up.

Will Early Bird slow down my Shopify store's speed?

In short, no. But to explain a little deeper...

Every app will have some impact on your store's speed, but for Early Bird the actual speed impact is negligible. We always strive to improve your customer's user experience, not detract from it.

Unlike most other apps, we have smart detection code in place to immediately swap out regular buttons and prices on preorder products, for your Early Bird configured ones, to avoid any flickering or delay which may confuse or disorient the customer.

There will be a couple of seconds where these loading states are shown, while we fetch your Early Bird campaign settings and set things up, but this process won't interfere with the rest of your store.

If you're curious about the technical details: We try and keep our app's bundle size as small as possible. We use mostly vanilla JavaScript (no framework) and limit the third party libraries. We send one request to our API to fetch your settings, and only on the product and collection pages, to minimise our impact and load time.

How does Early Bird handle deferred payments?

When you setup a pre-order campaign, you'll have the option to choose from capturing full payment upfront, partial payments, or a $0 deposit. (We recommend paid in full upfront as it's better for your cash flow.)

Our app helps authorise your customer's credit card when they checkout, so they won't need to enter their credit card details again when making their deferred payments.

This makes the pre-order purchase process a breeze for your customers, while saving you time from manually processing each pre-order when the fulfilment date comes.

How does Early Bird handle split carts?

Our app allows your customers to add pre-order items and regular in-stock items to the same cart.

During checkout, Early Bird clearly distinguishes between pre-order and in-stock items, highlighting the different fulfilment times to your customers.

You can set up several payment options:
• Capture payment upfront for all pre-order and in-stock items in one transaction
• Split the cart: full payment for in-stock items, partial deposits for pre-order items
• Flexible $0 deposits: charge for in-stock items now, collect pre-order payments later

Pre-order emails such as delay updates and receipts for deferred payments can all be automated through Early Bird and sent from your own domain.

How does Early Bird handle multiple pre-orders?

Our app allows your customers to add multiple pre-order items to the same cart.

You can set up several payment options:
• Capture payment upfront for all pre-orders in one transaction

Will your app leave code behind after I uninstall from my store?

No, we take care to ensure our apps remove any registered scripts or extensions completely from your store if you uninstall the app. If this is ever not the case, we will make it clear to you and provide instructions for reverting any changes our app makes.
