Every app will have some impact on your store's speed, but for Early Bird the actual speed impact is negligible. We always strive to improve your customer's user experience, not detract from it.
Unlike most other apps, we have smart detection code in place to immediately swap out regular buttons and prices on preorder products, for your Early Bird configured ones, to avoid any flickering or delay which may confuse or disorient the customer.
There will be a couple of seconds where these loading states are shown, while we fetch your Early Bird campaign settings and set things up, but this process won't interfere with the rest of your store.
If you're curious about the technical details: We try and keep our app's bundle size as small as possible. We use mostly vanilla JavaScript (no framework) and limit the third party libraries. We send one request to our API to fetch your settings, and only on the product and collection pages, to minimise our impact and load time.
When you setup a pre-order campaign, you'll have the option to choose from capturing full payment upfront, partial payments, or a $0 deposit. (We recommend paid in full upfront as it's better for your cash flow.)
